Kimberley Ski Hill                   With over 1,800acres of varied skiing suitable for all abilities, a great terrain park, the longest night run in Canada a dedicated beginners area plus fabulous views of the Canadian Rocky Mountains Kimberley really is "The Jewel In The Crown" of Canadian skiing In the 2006 - 07 season Kimberley received over 22 feet of the famous Purcell Powder snow. Until recently the resort has received very little publicity  or investment by its owners and so has been relatively unknown with little property developement, empty runs and no lift lines (queues). In the last year however Kimberley has been "Discovered".  With the new Canadian Rockies International Airport expansion due to be completed this year in Cranbrook, which is just a 20 minute drive to the resort, Kimberley will soon become the easiest Canadian Ski Resort to reach for international travellers. For the first time in my memory there were long lines to purchase lift tickets with waits of up to two and a half hours over Christmas, New Year and on Alberta Family Day Weekend plus a 40 minute wait to get on to the main lift to access the hill. Though out of holiday times it was still "spot the skier" once waay from the front face of the ski mountain. Resorts of the Canadian Rockies who also own Lake Louise and Fernie ski resorts are going to have to invest quickly to keep up with the new found enthusiasm for Kimberleys superb skiing. A second lift to access the hill is desperately needed as is another method of getting back to the base area. At the moment everyone has to use one very narrow bridge (known as The War Zone) which can become extremely congested and if the North Star Express Lift ever breaks down then there is no other method of accessing this superb mountain. With the recent sales of  building  land to developers by the resort owners they should now have no problems raising the funds required to make the necessary improvements to bring Kimberley up to the International Ski Resort standard visitors will expect. Real estate sales are booming and reliable building contractors hard to find.  Take my advice and ski Kimberley sooner rather than later, remember the words of Warren Miller  "If You Don't Do It This  Year You Will Be One Year Older When You Do" Main Run Back to Base
